Strategic Objectives

2007/2008

  1. Analyze workflow functions and Aleph activities in Acquisitions and Licensing Department; introduce refinements where necessary and appropriate; coordinate redesigned workflow with other departments or units within the libraries. (Steve Carrico; Doug Kiker; Jason Fleming)
  2. Finish ongoing projects to reclassify Dewey monograph and standing order titles in the Humanities and Social Sciences collections, reclassify Dewey monographs and series titles when indicated and requested by Collection Management, and continue reclassification of priority Dewey circulating materials from ALF as initiated by Access Services. (Lawan Orser; Jason Fleming; Steve Carrico).
  3. Implement EDI batch invoicing and payments in Aleph for the major monographs vendors used in Acquisitions and Licensing Department; monitor accuracy and timeliness of these vendor services. (Jason Fleming; Paul Lightcap; Beth Zavoyski Jack Waters)
  4. Review, update and manage license agreements for electronic resource purchases; complete integration of paper license files into archived scanned files. Coordinate with Paying Unit payments and budgetary information. (Doug Kiker; Jay Wiese; Jessica York; Jack Waters).
  5. Implement use of the Electronic Resources Management System Verde. Train E-Resources Unit staff on how to use system, input data, create records, and participate in consortia functionality of Verde (Doug Kiker; Jay Wiese; Jessica York).
  6. Review the development and availability of World Cat Selection using ITSO CUL software for use in monograph ordering (Steve Carrico; Paul Lightcap)
  7. Encourage application of Macro Express to repetitive functions in Aleph throughout the library system; promote and share the suites of macro activities practiced in acquisitions, serials, and maintenance operations. (Jason Fleming; Steve Carrico; Doug Kiker; Raimonda Margjoni; Jack Waters).
  8. Develop in-house Aleph reports for budgetary, serials, and statistical coverage of Aleph acquisitions and cataloging work; coordinate reports with Law and Health Science Center. (Jason Fleming; Steve Carrico; Jack Waters; Doug Kiker; Raimonda Margjoni).
  9. Working with web page designers from each unit, coordinate and upgrade department pages. (Jason Fleming; Raimonda Margjoni; Jay Wiese; Jack Waters; Paul Lightcap; Steve Carrico).
  10. Using link checker software, monitor and distribute report of broken links to appropriate library units for correction. (Jason Fleming; Doug Kiker; Jessica York)
  11. Continue to improve acquisitions and cataloging workflows to increase efficiency of print and e-resource materials in the Monograph, Electronic Resources & Serials Units. (Steve Carrico; Raimonda Margjoni; Paul Lightcap; Doug Kiker)
  12. Revise and add new serials and acquisitions procedures affected by the Aleph 18 upgrade; create navigation maps, tip sheets, and other documentation to use for training staff both in the department and across the UF Libraries.
  13. Develop and implement an improved statistical management system for the Acquisitions & Licensing Department; create a new web page for statistical summaries - including stats reported to ARL - while developing new methods of gathering and monitoring statistics.
