Strategic Objectives
2008/2009
After each objective the primary department managers involved in the initiative are listed along with the staff of the appropriate unit.
1. Analyze workflow functions and Aleph activities in Acquisitions and Licensing Department; introduce refinements where necessary and appropriate; coordinate redesigned workflow with other departments or units within the libraries. (Steve Carrico; Raimonda Margjoni; Paul Lightcap; Chris Poehlmann; and staff in Serials, Monographs, and E-Resources)
2. Finish ongoing projects to organize standing order titles and identify additional series for shelf-ready processing. (Steve Carrico; Raimonda Margjoni; Paul Lightcap; and staff in Serials & Monographs).
3. Implement EDI batch invoicing and payments in Aleph for the major monographs vendors used in Acquisitions and Licensing Department, particularly Blackwell’s. (Paul Lightcap; Jack Waters; and staff in Monos)
4. Monitor accuracy and timeliness of Blackwell’s vendor services for the new Virtual Approval Plan and the new online ordering system. (Paul Lightcap, Steve Carrico; and staff in Monos)
5. Develop new procedures for the review, update and management of license agreements for electronic resource purchases; the workflow of paper license files into archived scanned files; and the coordination of procedures for invoicing and payments with the Serials & Paying Units. (Chris Poehlmann; Jack Waters; Raimonda Margjoni; Steve Carrico; and staff in E-Resources, Serials, and Paying).
6. Implement use of the Electronic Resources Management System SerialsSolutions 360 Resource Manager with SerialSolutions other product, 360Link. (Chris Poehlmann & staff in E-Resources).
7. Continue to develop requests to IT for development of in-house Aleph and SQL reports for budgetary, serials, and statistical coverage of Aleph acquisitions and cataloging work. (Steve Carrico; Jack Waters; Doug Kiker; Raimonda Margjoni).
8. Update Web page and begin to use a Wiki or StaffGuide for procedures. (Steve Carrico, Raimonda Margjoni, and Paul Lightcap).
9. Update and improve link checking procedures and software; monitor and distribute report of broken links to appropriate library units for correction. (Chris Poehlmann)
