Technical Support Unit

The Technical Support Unit plays an integral role in the University of Florida Library. Unit members are dedicated to creating effective and unique solutions that solve problems posed through Technical Support requests sent in by Library staff. Library staff will receive training for applications and new workflows from this unit as required by unit and department heads. Macros will be created to address the functional needs of staff in the attempt to increase workflow efficiency. The unit will be instrumental in assisting library units and departments with designing new work processes to streamline efforts. When necessary applications will be developed by this unit as solutions to existing problems and as a way to decrease inefficiencies. Specifically the members of this unit will work to support all staff in the management of Aleph reports and Data loading functions. SQL design will be an integral part of the effort to increase the usefulness of information available to the Library. In this respect collaboration with FCLA will be essential. Resources will be designed as needed and engineered to be open and inviting to encourage continued use. Jason Fleming is the head of the Technical Support Unit.
