Minutes from January 27, 2005 Meeting

Serials Solutions: Rich Bennett announced that our record will open up a link to the record in Serials Solutions. Serials Solutions will update their list every month. Cecilia voiced some concern that HSC records are typically more up to date than their Serials Solutions counterparts. We are still trying to get a full list of Elsevier titles. There is a problem with new titles. Depending on when they were acquired it could take up to a month to get the update from Serials Solutions. Can we put a provisional record up in the meantime? Our goal is to have 1 electronic record for each item with a location of UFER. It was asked if we could get updates more frequently than one month and the naswer is no.
Clean up: We need to clean up the print records and remove all of the electronic info. We would also have to remove all of the electronic records previously put into the catalog.
Order Records for Serials Solutions Titles: All three Libraries would need to have access to the Acquisitions and Cataloging features of these records. The idea of "suppressed shadow records" was brought up, records that are created for the sole purpose of hanging payments on them.
Issues to be addressed: New titles, cancelled titles, where to attach ACQ info for these records. For locally created items we will wait until they are put in CONSER before informing Serials Solutions about them.
