Withdrawals of electronic resources
- The license agreements that are signed when we acquire electronic resources often require specific action when we elect not to use the material further. To maintain our legal agreement with the publisher or vendor, we ask that you contact us when you are considering withdrawing any electronic resource so that we may consult the license agreement to see if any action may be necessary.
- Please consult with us via email or phone, using the following example:
I would like to withdraw the CD-rom, Historical Abstracts. Does the license agreement require any specific action?
- We will let you know if we must return the product, destroy it, or if you may follow your normal branch withdrawal procedure. We will also remove the license agreement from our office's "active" file and retain it in a separate "purge" file for four years, as required by Florida law.
- Our department can easily accomplish withdrawal of any Internet-based product. Please alert us via email or phone that you wish to withdraw a resource that is accessed via the Internet. We will quickly remove the URL from its active status and append our license agreement files.
- For all questions or requests for withdrawal of electronic resources, please consult Doug Kiker at 392-0355 or dkiker@mail.uflib.ufl.edu.
