Description: The internship in the University of California Irvine's
Visual Resources Collection provides an introduction to the field

Description: Internships can be tailored to fit the interests and
skills of the applicant. Aspiring art librarians may work on our visual
resources collection (fully digital now, since every classroom on
our campus is fitted with a digital projector), collection management
(selection, weeding, analysis), cataloging, reference & instruction,
or general management. In early 2008, we ll be migrating to a new
ILS and joining a statewide consortium, which will provide some additional
opportunities for applicants interested in how libraries accomplish
such things. Harrington's library enjoys close ties with faculty,
a supportive administration, and high approval from our students.
Located in the Chicago Loop, Harrington is a 75 year old private college
offering degrees in interior design, digital photography, and communication

Description: This is a paid position totaling 150 hours per semester.
A minimum of eight hours per week is required, but the Archivist will
work with the candidate to arrive at a mutually convenient schedule.
Under the direction and supervision of the Archivist, the Archives
Intern is responsible for performing various tasks related to the
Clark s archival and records management programs. Functions may include,
but are not limited to, assisting in inventory and appraisal of existing
collections, arrangement and re-housing of permanent records in a
variety of media, and description of materials utilizing relevant
descriptive standards and EAD encoding.
Candidates must be enrolled in an ALA-accredited library school or
a graduate program in history, art history, or museum studies. Consideration

of these areas. Ability to lift heavy boxes, demonstrated attention
to detail, and familiarity with Microsoft Office software are required.

Description: The full-time summer program offers a hands-on introduction
to the inner workings of an auction house and to the New York art
world. The internship starts with a brief orientation, after which
each participant will work in the library for the duration of the
internship. Internships are available to students who are able to
earn academic credit. Interns will perform retrospective cataloguing
of books, auction catalogs, and periodicals; assist with reference
queries from specialist departments; perform various administrative/clerical
tasks; and attend lectures twice a week on fine and decorative arts
given by Christie's specialists.
Part-time unpaid internships are available in the fall and spring.
Required Qualifications: Enrollment in an accredited library science
program, interest in art and art history, enthusiasm and ability to
work alone and as a team member, experience in database applications,
advanced skills in a language other than English a plus.

Description: The Gund Library provides collections and services in support
of the Institute's accredited degree programs. The library also serves
as a resource for the Institute's non-degree educational programs and
graduates, and is open to the public. Possible projects include writing
descriptions of books made by artists, updating OCLC holding libraries
records, selecting and organizing pictures for the image file, researching

creating library displays. The Gund Library is open seven days and five

Archive Practice
Note: Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents
legally entitled to work in Canada.
Candidates must have an undergraduate degree in the history of art
and must have completed the first year of a community college diploma
in library or archive technology, or the first year of the master's
degree in archives, library, and information management. Project submissions
will be considered in collections development (bibliography, acquisitions,
appraisal), collections management (cataloguing, indexing, electronic
resources development), reader services, and archives arrangement
and description.
All projects must address the principles and practice of art librarianship
or archives management, and must reflect the collection and program
