LC Subjects and Classification

by Original Cataloging Units

This is a list of the subjects each unit generally catalogs, organized by Library of Congress classification numbers. Language expertise will occasionally determine which cataloger catalogs an item; also, certain catalogers are assigned to special subject areas outside the unit's general subject responsibility. Since many materials are interdisciplinary, the final distribution of materials may fall outside the general guidelines. Use cataloger's and subject specialist's judgement.
