Fixed Field

NOTIS fixed field information is recorded in ALEPH in the MARC21 Leader (LDR) and 008 fields as follows:

           Leader:BL, DCF, E/L, RT, STAT, T/C

           008 Books: BIOG, CONF, CONT, D/CODE, DT/1, DT/2, FEST, GOVT, ILLUS, INDX, LANG, L/FORM,    

           MOD, PLACE, REPRO, SRC, T/AUD

            008 Computer Files: D/CODE, CF/TYP, DT/1, DT/2, GOVT, LANG, MOD, PLACE, SRC, T/AUD

           008 Maps: BME, CM/TYP, D/CODE, DT/1, DT/2, GOVT, INDX, LANG, MOD, PLACE, RELIEF,

           REPRO,  SP/FORM, SRC [REPRO is valid for MAP, but not included in NOTIS fixed field]

Some NOTIS fixed fields are not recorded in either the Leader or 008: D/S, DT, FMT, R/DT.  In NOTIS, these fixed fields and the Leader appear on the first line of the fixed field area of the bibliographic record.  The 008 information appears on the second and third lines.

The 852 field is the MARC21 Holdings field that contains location information.  The coding in the example above means the following:
    852 00=1st indicator 0 LC Classification Scheme; 2nd indicator 0 Not Enumeration
    ICEXU=MARC code of the holdings institution (UF's codes are FU, FU-HC, FU-J, FU-L)
    XLINK=name of organizational division (library)
    GEN=shelving location (collection)

ALEPH Items Record

           

The ALEPH Items record contains information about specific copies.  Each Items record consists of 4 tabs - General Information (1), General Information (2), Serial Information, and Serial Levels.

General Information (1) includes Barcode, Sublibrary, Collection, Call Number Type, Temporary Location, Call Number, 2nd Call Number Type, 2nd Call Number, Copy Number, Enum. Level 1 (A) (Vol.), Enum. Level 2 (B), Description, Material Type, Item Status, Item Process Status, HOL Link, 85X Type/Linking Number

           

General Information (2) includes Search Note, Circ Note, Internal Note, Order Number, Invoice Key, Invoice Note, Inventory Number, Inventory Date, Last Invent. Report Date, Price, Statistic, Remote Storage ID, Open Date, Update Date

           

Serial Information includes Schedule, Subscription No., Pages, Description, Issue Date, Exp. Arrival Date, Arrival Date, Gap Indicator

           

Serial Levels includes Enum. Level 1 (A) (Vol.), Enum. Level 2 (B), Enum. Level 3 (C), Enum. Level 4 (D), Enum. Level 5 (E), Enum. Level 6 (F), Alt. Enum. 1 (G), Alt. Enum. 2 (H), Chron.
