Microform Cataloging Guideline:
Only Copy
If the microform copy is our only copy of the title (i.e., it is not cataloged in some format in Aleph), follow this procedure.
SHARED CATALOGING
- Search for matching OCLC copy. If there is no matching OCLC copy (see ORIGINAL CATALOGING).
- Verify title matches by checking for the presence of at least one of the following fields:
- Attach our holdings to OCLC copy and export record into Aleph.
Make sure the following areas are correct:
- Holdings screen:
Sublibrary = UFSWE, Collection = MFM (microfilm) or MFE (microfiche) or see complete list of Aleph location codes.
Add call number as usual.
Create 853/863 for multi-volume titles.
Create item records and assign barcodes.
Run statistics macro. - Labelling:
Repro (Form in OCLC) fixed field code:

Microfiche: leave fiche in original packaging and print the holdings screen showing how call number is formatted and deliver to Processing with fiche.
Microfilm: print the holdings screen showing how call number is formatted and deliver to Processing with reels.

If possible, use the OCLC or ALEPH record for another edition as the basis for the original record.

5. Guides
Catalog microform guides as an accompanying material, using +e in the 300 field. They will get the same location as the microform itself; if there is more than one copy, the second copy can go to Reference.
