Committee to provide the DLDG with dance-related information about the
activities of such organizations as the Theatre Library Association, Art
Libraries Society of North America, Music Library Association, American
Film and Video Association, Society of American Archivists, Special Libraries
Association, Congress On Research in Dance, Society of Dance History Scholars,
Dance Critics Association, National Dance Association, the Dance Heritage
Coalition, the World Dance Alliance and the Commission on Preservation
and Access. Encourage DLDG members to communicate activities of DLDG to
these bodies and vice versa. Communicate the needs of Dance Librarians
to the Dance Heritage Coalition and participate in advisory committees

meetings to the Arts Newsletter and the publications and the publications

of the membership brochure that is being prepared for the Arts Section

that briefly outline dance library issues and indicate that answers may

in other countries and open a dialogue with them. Discuss an international
meeting of librarians and archivists in dance to be held within the next

organizations interested in censorship and intellectual freedom issues
as they relate to dance and dance funding. Encourage ACRL Arts, Government
and Private Sector Activities Committee to keep the DLDG informed with

they relate to dance and dance funding.

with ACRL in its efforts to define and recruit qualified dance librarians.

for more educational opportunities in dance librarianship to be forwarded
to the ACRL Arts Education and Recruitment Committee, which will send on
to the ALISE (Association for Library and lnformation Science Education)

and basic materials to assist with preliminary questions concerning preservation
of dance materials to be distributed to dance collections and the wider
dance community. Offer a workshop/program featuring experts in the field
of preservation of dance materials.

Subgoal B, Objective 5: Report on the activities of coalitions
and/or other organizations that are beginning to create shared international
databases for dance. Monitor and evaluate the usefulness of the products
of coalitions establishing international dance databases and provide necessary
feedback to those organizations.

Subgoal B, Objective 6: Continue to hold meetings of the DLDG
during ALA Midwinter and Annual Conference meetings. Identify and report
on other networking activities. Establish an electronic reference network
connecting dance librarians so that they may assist one another with reference

GOAL II Subgoal B Objective 7: Maintain contact with vendors of dance and dance-related materials who exhibit at ALA. Prior to meetings, make a list of relevant vendors and distribute to the area dance community where the meetings will be held in order to encourage further investigation. List all vendors specializing in technology appropriate to dance and distribute it to the dance community. Obtain exhibit passes for interested dance community members.
GOAL II Subgoal B Objective 8: Encourage the ACRL Arts Section's Technology in the Arts Committee to continue to provide discussions and programs that include dance-related topics. Work with LITA and other parts of ALA interested in technology appropriate to dance on cooperative programs and projects.
