The group met to discuss a way to try to mimic the Missing process used when we were in NOTIS. Aleph does not
produce the same types of search reports in a way to sort out items by date reported missing. We created Item
Processing Statuses for this purpose, and staff must select the appropriate month. Reports are then manually
generated by staff for searching MI statuses. Staff then manually change the IPS to Lost after the appropriate
search interval. The canned reports in Aleph for Lost items don't sort very well for Collection Management.
Due to the reclassification project, we did not meet with Database Maintenance to find out how items marked as LO
will be suppressed. We did determine that it was not appropriate for Circulation staff to suppress records of LO items.
The group documented the Circulation procedure and created a chart of Item Processing Statuses. While the Missing/Lost
procedure has been discussed with Circulation staff, we will have a review at this month's Circulation Town Meeting
(October 25th, 3:30 PM in L107). The group also created an online form for staff to request new IPS; the group will meet as necessary
to discuss these requests, work with FCLA to create IPS that are needed, and update the IPS chart.
