Each of the Smathers Libraries provides seating for use of library materials and general study purposes. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis during all hours of operation. In recent years, far more seating space than we prefer has had to be removed from some library facilities in order to provide growth space for the library collections. However, an attempt has been made to retain a reasonable amount of seating for users of those collections. Many older and lesser-used books have been withdrawn from the collection or moved to external storage areas in order to save as much study space as possible.
Computer
Facilities
The Libraries provide a number of public workstations for conducting library
research throughout its facilities. In compliance with University of Florida
policy, all persons must log on to public computers in the Smathers Libraries
using their assigned library card number. A Computer
Use Policy has been developed to insure that workstations are reserved
for legitimate research purposes.
