Storage Notes for Catalogers

Library storage materials are located at the Auxiliary Library Facility (ALF) off Waldo Road. A new high density facility (HDF) adjacent to ALF is scheduled to open around 2013.

Since materials now in ALF are planned to move to the HDF which will not allow duplicates, please do not send more than one copy of any item to ALF, and please do not add any items to ALF for which another copy is already in storage.

For LC classification items in ALF, you should ONLY use UFSTO, GEN

For Dewey classification items in ALF (monographs, serial and periodicals), you should ONLY use UFSTO GEN.

NOTE: No new items go into UFSTO AUX or UFSTO GEND. The AUX materials are the old HSSL sent to MSL (sci, hssl) .  The GEND is the Dewey collection remaining at ALF after Library West LC items returned to campus.

The code for Documents in SuDoc Classification in ALF is: UFSTO DOCS

There are various other codes you will see for items already in ALF:

  • UFSTO AFA
  • UFSTO BRITL
  • UFSTO JUD
  • UFSTO JUOVR
  • UFSTO KLUWR
  • UFSTO OVR
  • UFSTO PAGED
  • UFSTO PER2

There is a new collection code “TRAY” that is used for materials processed for transfer to HDF. It is for ALF staff use only and should NEVER be used by CatMet staff.
