Goals & Objectives 2006-2007
Major Goals & Objectives
- Participate in training activities for the new Digital Projects Metadata Librarian (unit)
- Work closely with DLC and the new Metadata Librarian to implement authority strategies for the Institutional Repository and other UF digital collections (Priscilla & Haiyun)
- Review existing cataloging/DLC workflow charts; make appropriate changes, and implement (Haiyun & Priscilla)
- Continue to work with FCLA and the TSPC Authorities Subcommittee to improve the ALEPH authority file loads, reports, updates and global change capabilities (unit)
- Reduce the backlog of MARCIVE records and continue regular updates (Gerald)
- Continue the deletion of series in the UFU10 ALEPH local authority file that match the LC treatment; monitor the linkage to the LC Prod file (Nancy & Priscilla)
- Continue to coordinate the outsourcing of foreign language materials for cataloging (Priscilla)
- Continue to support Dewey reclassification projects
Other Specific Goals & Objectives
- Continue to monitor updates and coding corrections to CSUL Aleph authority resource file to help maintain authority structure for all headings used in the UF catalog, and also in the other CSUL catalogs (Nancy & Gerald)
- Continue to make corrections to subject headings in Aleph using NOTIS reports (Jackie H.)
- Revise "Cataloging Electronic Resources Guidelines" in ALEPHPRO (Priscilla)
- Continue responsibility as BIBCO and NACO coordinators (Priscilla)
- Continue to load MARC records for e-books purchased in bulk from vendors (Gerald & Jackie H.)
- Continue to load records with added tables of contents (Gerald)
- Continue to load microform analytics (Gerald)
- Continue to load new and updated LTQF records in Aleph (Gerald & Jackie H.)
- Upload backlog of records for UF ETDs to OCLC; upload new records as needed (Gerald & Jackie H.)
- Continue to coordinate the cataloging of UF electronic theses/dissertations (ETDs) (Gerald)
- Continue participation in RS cleanup day
