Goals & Objectives 2007-2008
Major Goals & Objectives
- Participate in training activities for the new Library Associate II and OPS staff from the Database Maintenance Unit
- Integrate Database Maintenance workflow into Authorities Unit workflow
- Work closely with DLC to implement authority strategies for the Life Events project and other UF digital collections (Priscilla)
- Continue to refine existing cataloging/DLC workflow charts as appropriate and document changes (Priscilla)
- Continue to work with FCLA and the TSPC Authorities Subcommittee to improve the ALEPH authority file loads, reports, updates and global change capabilities (Gerald & Priscilla)
- After upgrade to version 18, reindexing and relinking of bib headings to authority records, revise AlephPro procedure for checking headings in Aleph (Gerald)
- Complete the loading of the backlog of GPO MARCIVE records and continue regular updates (Gerald)
- Eliminate backlog of bib heading changes for subjects (Gerald & Jackie)
- Continue the deletion of series in the UFU10 ALEPH local authority file that match the LC treatment; monitor the linkage to the LC Prod file (Priscilla & Gerald)
- Continue to transfer series treatment information from serial records to series authority records
- Continue to coordinate the outsourcing of foreign language materials for cataloging (Priscilla)
- Continue to support Dewey reclassification projects
- Participate in data clean-up to support Endeca implementation
Other Specific Goals & Objectives
- Continue to monitor updates and make coding corrections to CSUL Aleph authority resource file to help maintain authority structure for all headings used in the UF catalog, and also in the other CSUL catalogs (Priscilla & Gerald)
- Load OCLC Bib Notification records (Jackie H.)
- Continue to load records with added table of contents (Gerald)
- Continue to load microform analytics (Gerald)
- Eliminate backlog of records for UF ETDs to be uploaded to OCLC; upload new records as needed (Gerald & Jackie H.)
- Continue to coordinate the cataloging of UF electronic theses/dissertations (ETDs) (Gerald)
- Undertake project to verify that access restrictions for UF ETDs are functioning appropriately (Gerald)
- Participate in revision of metadata for Digital Library of the Caribbean titles (Gerald & Priscilla)
- Continue participation in CatMet cleanup day
