Single bib merge specifications
CMG reviewed the draft single bib merge specs in preparation for the first test merge of FSU, USF, and UF data this spring.
Dean Russell instructed departments to submit justifications for any new positions and/or replacements for vacancies. The department will submit a justification for the Library Assistant 3 position that will be vacant when Fern retires in March 2011 as well as a proposal for a new faculty position.
Hikaru will take over as chair of the Training Committee later in the spring. Other members include Doug, Hank, and Beatriz. Jackie B., Jorge, and Susan will cycle off.
CMG discussed the possibility of removing PCC-related questions from the stats macros.
Writing call numbers on cataloged items
Writing call numbers on cataloged items may not be necessary except for material sent to Preservation. Shelf-ready books do not come with call numbers written inside. Jimmie and Doug will discuss with their units before making a final decision.
Catalog Problems not-on-shelf messages
CMG decided to continue the current practice of forwarding not-on-shelf reports to branch circulation e-mail lists.
Betsy is working with Jason on a report to identify problematic barcode scanners.
CMG discussed problems with public notes in the catalog that direct users to series analytics.
