CatMet Management Group Minutes
February 20, 2013
Attendees: Peter Bushnell, Jane Anne Carey, Jimmie Lundgren, Betsy Simpson, Priscilla Williams, Naomi Young
Progress is being made identifying individual workstations and improving the set up of the Processing area. Possibly the training room computer/monitors can be moved to the conference room (#17).
RDA NACO training is coming along. No issues/concerns at this point.
Jimmie reported that the SUL RDA Task Group is currently reviewing the new RDA fields.
In preparation for the TSS Division annual meeting, CMG brainstormed goals that would be most appropriate for sharing broadly. Betsy will draft templates for four goals - FLARE support, RDA implementation, department moves, and reorganization (in light of Jimmie's upcoming retirement). CMG will then reduce to two goals, which is the number requested for the division meeting, and seek input from the department.
Recently Jane Anne was contacted by an attorney wanting details about when a thesis was made available to the public. When asked for guidance about how to handle such requests, Dean Russell responded that inquiries from legal entities should be referred to her.
Unbound journal issues
Barcoding unbound journal issues in preparation storage ingest was discussed at the 2/20/13 Joint Chairs meeting. The elimination of journal binding has brought this to the forefront since some branches do not barcode the issues, yet barcodes are needed on issues sent to the storage facility because the traying inventory software requires barcodes for ingest and retrieval.
U Miami visit
A group from the University of Miami is scheduled to visit UF on March 25 to tour the storage facilities and learn more about the FLARE workflows.
Mark Sullivan is continuing to work on adding more UFDC content to Mango and expects a fix will be place in a couple of weeks.
