Attendees: Peter Bushnell, Jane Anne Carey, Jimmie Lundgren, Hikaru Nakano, Betsy Simpson, Doug Smith, Priscilla Williams, Naomi Young
Jane Anne is going to create an AlephPro draft page about not creating copy numbers. The barcode number will serve as the unique identifier. Exceptions will include Baldwin, Belknap, Rare Books, and Maps. No changes will be made to copy numbers retrospectively.
Creative Commons CC0 statement
The CC0 statement has been added to UF original records in Mango. The next step is to add it as new original records are contributed to WorldCat. Jimmie will send CMG the draft language for review before implementing.
Administration would like the remaining Baldwin Egolf titles (2,000 out of 3,000 total) to be cataloged by June 30. Jimmie will identify staff from her unit to work on the project. Jane Anne and Betsy will look into OPS hires.
Among other issues, the following were discussed at the March Council of State University Libraries (CSUL) meeting:
- Aleph Version 20 upgrade – may happen this year; details and timeline tbd; supposed to be an easy upgrade to implement.FCLA/CCLA – the Florida Legislature is interested in creating a new support organization for the SUL and FCS (Florida College System) that would take the place of FCLA and CCLA; CSUL is going to work with representatives from FCS to outline needs for staffing, funding, logistics, services, and governance structure.
- Single discovery tool – the Florida Legislature wants a single discovery tool used across the SUL and FCS; CSUL and representatives from FCS, working with libraries, will lead efforts to define specs.
AGRSSR meeting update
- Planning for the last six months of the 2 year VIVO grant is underway.AGRSSR discussed privacy issues with digitized material.
- There needs to be a complete reload of Serials Solutions records.
The Training Committee is organizing a training session on the Connexion Control Heading function as it relates to subject heading subdivisions.
Project management workshop
Naomi and Hikaru attended a 2 day project management workshop offered by the Libraries. The attendees are planning to create a Sharepoint page to post documents, worksheets, and project updates.
Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) grant
The CLIR grant proposal to catalog historic maps was resubmitted. Partners include the Florida Historical Society, History Miami, and the University of Miami.
