Implementation of workflow for revising Digital Library Center METS files

Haiyun is looking for volunteers to work on the DLC project, which involves updating records in English, Spanish, and French. For the images in the collection, TGM, or the Thesaurus of Graphic Material I, will be used to provide subject access. The group recommended that Haiyun send an e-mail to the department to solicit participants.
Working Group on the Future of Bibliographic Control
Nancy Poehlmann attended the May 9, 2007 meeting of the Working Group on the Future of Bibliographic Control and shared her observations.
Jimmie reported that FCLA has eliminated the duplication of note fields in Endeca by tagging the fields so that they only display in the appropriate institutional catalog.
Update on Aleph 18 preparations
The CatMet Training Committee is working on the presentation and documentation for the upcoming training sessions. Doug said much of the functionality and terminology is the same as with version 15.5. The biggest challenge is explaining the new ways of navigating in version 18.
Betsy announced that functionality testing is still underway. FCLA has given July 5 as the deadline for reporting problems prior to the upgrade.
CONSER standard record
Naomi announced that she has provided training for the serials catalogers in preparation for the June 1 implementation of the CONSER standard record (formerly referred to as the "access record").
Betsy announced that a sample file of serial local holdings has been sent to OCLC.
Jimmie mentioned that she had been contacted by DLC about adding a series statement to UF dissertations published as part of Coastal Archives technical report series.
Storage Reclass Project
Doug received 2 bins of materials for the Storage Reclass Project from Circulation.
