August 17, 2011
Attendees: Peter Bushnell, Jane Anne Carey, Jimmie Lundgren, Hikaru Nakano, Betsy Simpson, Doug Smith, Priscilla Williams, Naomi Young
Most of the meeting was a discussion with Dean Russell about Storage-related topics, the Digital Library Center, and planning for Library East. Discussions are ongoing about the future of Library East with many decisions yet to be made. Although it is still the case that Acquisitions and Cataloging are expected to be moved out of the building at some point, it is uncertain when that will happen and, to date, no facility has been identified.
CMG identified the following current Storage projects:
- No OCLC (items targeted by the Dedup and Tray Teams as having no OCLC number on the bib record)
- Journal inventory
- ALFdocs (federal documents in ALF Dewey and LC collections)
- ASERL Agriculture DPA (Distributed Print Archive)
- Condition Assessment (damaged/brittle items)
- Congressional Hearings
IT is going to try to upgrade Connexion now rather than waiting for the new computers to arrive.
Only items with gift slips should be considered a gift when running the stats macro. Doug will work on getting gift slips to use with the Hildebrand and Women in Development collections housed in the alcove.
Lila Sadkin, MLS graduate, is a volunteer who started in the summer. 2-3 other volunteers/interns, all UF undergraduates, are expected for fall term: Hillary Arieux, Lisabeth Hernandez, and possibly Kristen Schwartz.
Career Resource Center
The library is in the process of setting up UF's Career Resource Center as an affiliated library.
