October department meeting
CMG decided the department meeting would be a good forum for sharing information from the 10/2/09 SUL Catalogers Summit.
To-be-cataloged items
Betsy requested that catalogers only keep to-be-cataloged items that are actively being worked on at their desks. The Contributed Cataloging Unit members have been informed; Doug will speak with the Copy Cataloging Unit. Reasons cited include:
- Easier to track down material
- Allows for more complete update of the Uncataloged Inventory
- Recognition that burden to get the work done is shared
H1N1 preparations
Doug shared information from the 9/2/09 H1N1 meeting. Each department has to submit a list with staff phone numbers, schedules, and indication of recent or ongoing public service experience. In the event of absences at public service points, staff may be temporarily reassigned in order to keep branches open and running.
