FY10 draft annual report and statistics
CMG discussed the draft annual report, and Jimmie recommended adding a section about SUL activities. The draft will be shared with the department prior to the October department meeting.
CMG decided to remove the Enhance/Upgrade category from the stats spreadsheet. BIBCO and CONSER stats provide the necessary information.
October department meeting
CMG brainstormed agenda topics for the October department meeting and came up with the following:
- Admin Update (Rachel)
- Annual Report/Stats (Betsy et al.)
- RDA Toolkit (Hikaru)
- Genre/Form (Jimmie)
- Single Bib (Betsy)
Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) cataloging project
Naomi announced that UF is participating in a national initiative to create CONSER level records for DOAJ titles. UF will contribute 20 new/upgrade records.
$90,000 special fund
Betsy reminded CMG that proposals are due by October 22.
Storage duplicate project
CMG agreed that provider-neutral records should be created for Internet Archive (IA) digitized versions of storage duplicates sent to IA for scanning.
Printer for microform reader
IT is trying to find a used printer to attach to the department microform reader. Attempts to attach printers on hand were unsuccessful.
After trying for years to establish a process for archiving out-of-date EDIS documents and displaying records for current versions in the catalog, Jimmie received approval from the Science Library to suppress all EDIS records in Aleph, and the records have now been suppressed.
Priscilla is planning to contact IT to inquire about providing access to a secure server for the U.Press of Florida records.
UFDC test feed review
Recently, Jimmie and Betsy met with DLC to go over recommendations regarding the UFDC test feed review. DLC will make revisions while CatMet updates the UFDC metadata with OCLC numbers for a couple of collections.
The retrospective project to add UF ETDs to WorldCat is completed.
