Electronic Resources Management Committee
Jimmie volunteered to be appointed as CatMet's interim committee member on the Electronic Resources Management Committee until the Digital Projects Metadata Librarian position is filled.
METS metadata records
Betsy will schedule a meeting for the group that has created MARC records based on UFDC's METS metadata to discuss issues (e.g., updating, diacritics) with Mark Sullivan in DLC.
LMN procedure
Nancy reported that Hikaru's investigation of the LMN procedure led her to conclude that the procedure may not be needed anymore. Material ordered through the CM Support Unit includes location information. Before archiving it, Nancy offered to check with Gifts & Exchange and talk to Doug further re. incoming material.
Soil Surveys
Jimmie reported that Jorge added links to the print version records for soil surveys for Florida counties.
852 public notes
The public notes on holdings display in Endeca now using a 32 character limit and an ellipsis.
Search Committee
The search committee for the Database Maintenance Librarian position has been appointed. Committee members are Patrick Reakes (Chair), Gerald Langford, Alena Aissing, and Ben Walker.
Changing URL
UF is considering changing its URL from ufl.edu to uf.edu. UF has over 3 million web pages at addresses with ufl.edu.
Effort reports
Semester effort reports are due in Library Human Resources on December 3rd.
Minimum wage for OPS workers
Minimum wage will be increased from $6.67 to $6.79 in January 2008. Library Council voted to apply the increase across the library's OPS hiring matrix at its 10/25/07 meeting.
Sabbatical Committee
On December 4th Priscilla will attend a University meeting to discuss the guidelines for sabbaticals and professional development.
Brittle books
Nancy reported that the Brittle Books Task Force is making progress on its charge to develop a workflow for handling brittle books and to process the current backlog of 3,000 books. No impact on CatMet is expected.
Storage Committee
Doug announced that the Storage Committee will meet with Judy on December 3rd.
University Committee on People with Disabilities
The University Committee on People with Disabilities will be discussing building projects for which side walks are being renovated and also focus on unisex restrooms rather than renovating stalls inside gender restrooms in the old buildings.
