Creative Commons license
Betsy, Jimmie, and Rachel met with Dean Russell recently to discuss the possibility of adding a Creative Commons license statement to UF's original catalog records.
Documents Hearings project
Cataloging is collaborating with Documents to determine specs for barcoding and cataloging the pre-1976 Congressional Hearings, including approximately 42,000 items and 30,000 titles. Doug conducted a pilot project to gather information.
In response to Rachel's call for proposals, Naomi is going to submit a request to purchase access to the ISSN Register for one year, and Betsy will submit a request for a new refrigerator and toaster oven for the break room. Other ideas are encouraged. The submission deadline is December 20.
Room 300 security
In preparation for possibly locking the 3rd floor double doors during the day, Facilities is working on a grover request to add a bell to the double doors as well as a staff use only sign.
Steve Carrico is planning to contact Diane Bruxvoort about having a discussion with branch chairs regarding the use of copy numbers. Coutts, the shelf-ready vendor, has indicated that providing copy numbers on shelf-ready material would add to the cost.
Hikaru announced that the Training Committee is archiving the links to the RDA Webinars in the department Sharepoint folder (see CatMet Training Committee tab at top; login is "UFAD\gatorlinkid" - may need to use Internet Explorer.)
- Hildebrand Indigeneous Agriculture - approximately 25-30 boxes coming; mostly grey literature; considered low priority
- Panama Canal Museum - less material for Cataloging than originally expected but could number in the hundreds
- Women in Development - less material for Cataloging than originally expected (~50 books); David Allerton will send word when all WID items have been placed in the alcove
Betsy said that Laurie Taylor is interested in knowing if/how Cataloging is using MarcEdit.
