Rich,
The TS Aleph Implementation Group discussed the Brief Recs display this morning and endorse our using UNF's configuration. We like the addition of the authority xrefs and the title order for unnumbered series. Nancy pointed out that in NOTIS unnumbered series were arranged by title.
Also, we noticed that UNF's Brief Recs display doesn't appear to have the problem with missing or duplicated records that ours does, so we're hopeful that using their configuration will correct our display. For example, Transformation of classical heritage has No. of Recs=48, yet Brief Recs only lists 22; Critical studies in education and culture series has No. of Recs=50+, but Brief Recs only lists 39. On the other hand, the serial Nature in the serials logical base has No. of Recs=4, and Brief Records has 6, repeating two records.

Please take a moment to review UNF's Brief Recs configuration. We'll discuss
this at the next RS Migration Group meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 8.
**Please note the time of the meeting is changed to 11:00-12:30. I'll send a
meeting reminder next week.** Betsy

Lydia sent this Monday, but I am just getting back to looking again at email
received while I was in Orlando.
We need to look at UNF's Brief Recs and decide if this will be acceptable as is for the re-run, or if we have changes.
Please pass on to others who may have an interest.

Rich,
The discussions and work on Brief Recs modification for UNF have basically
come to their logical conclusion and we don't anticipate that there will be
any further programming changes affecting Brief Recs for some time to
come. I believe it's time for UF to begin evaluating UNF's production
Brief Recs to determine if/how you'd like to have Brief Recs recreated. At
present, your Brief Recs have no authority cross-references, and at the
very least recreating Brief Recs will provide you with that additional
information.
Please ask the appropriate UF staff to examine UNF's Brief Recs in their
production catalog (http://nf.aleph.fcla.edu) and let me know if their
format is acceptable to UF or if changes will be required. Once the
desired Brief Recs format is established we'll schedule a time to re-run
the program that creates them.
