Thanks for participating in the meeting with Daniel this morning.  Here's a summary of our discussion.  Feel free to share your comments, corrections, etc.

Overlay

tab_match includes OCLC number and 599 as follows:

IND,TAG=035##,CODE=UTL,SUBFIELD=a

IND,TAG=599##,CODE=SYS,SUBFIELD=a

Daniel reports that the 599 match is not working.  He's going to do some more testing to get it to work.

049

Configuration of 049 to automatically create HOL and ITM depends on up-to-date 049 codes and access to restricted Aleph server.  We're waiting for Mary Ann to send the UF 049 table for our review.  If and how UF will have access to the Aleph server is still under discussion at FCLA.

Check Record

Daniel suggests we review the table documentation for Check Record and submit changes to FCLA.  Betsy/Gerald will set up a small working group to do this.  Daniel will see if there is information he might send that will help the group.

Authority Keyword

Daniel will talk to Lydia about the empty Keyword Search/Brief List display in the authorities libraries.

Windows

Daniel recommends that Julia review the ini parameters for size of windows and files.  We agreed that the bib display should default to maximize.  Julia's going to work on this.

Cataloging stats

Daniel will review again the Aleph list message re. cataloging stats that Betsy forwarded 4/11/03 and will talk to Mary Ann about this.

Subject:                Client customization--a few other things

Daniel,

A few other things related to customization:

Sorting of 852 fields: Jackie has noticed that if you have an 852 field that already has h and i subfields for the call no., and you add b and c subfields for the sublibrary and collection, you can't get the subfields to sort in the correct order.  The b and c subfields remain at the end.  Is there something that could be done about that?

Default authority record template in Derive new record function in Cataloging module:  Right now, when you use the Derive new record function in the Cataloging module and choose Create a new record in the Authority DB..., the template used to create the new authority record is one for a personal name.  We think that we'll mostly be using this function to create local series authority records.  Can the default template be changed?  (I could send you the values I think we need changed in the LDR and 008.)

Possibility of uploading records from Aleph elsewhere: I wanted to check back to see if there is any possibility of this. I know you mentioned to us that uploading from Aleph involves accessing the UNIX server, which might be a problem.   Even if we could not upload directly to OCLC, would it be possible to upload records to a file on the library server or to files on our individual PCs?  Or would it be possible for us to mark records that we want to export from Aleph and have FCLA run a routine to copy these from the UNIX server to some other file on our server?

Thanks,

Gerald
