Cataloging and Metadata Department
Policy on Use of Computers and Networks in the Work Environment
The Cataloging and Metadata Department Policy on Use of Computers and Networks in the Work Environment will follow the policies of the George A. Smathers Libraries, the University of Florida and the state of Florida. The George A. Smathers Libraries Policy for the Use of Library Computers states:
"Computers and networks are state assets. Use them in a responsible, ethical and lawful manner. Comply with local, state, and federal laws (including copyright law), with University rules and policies (see http://www.it.ufl.edu/policies/aupolicy.html), and with applicable contracts including software licenses. Commercial activities not related to meeting academic information needs of the University of Florida are prohibited."
Even though this policy was written with the "public" use of library computers in mind, it is also applicable to "staff" use of library computers. It is each person's responsibility to ensure that they and any person they may supervise make proper use of university/library/department computer resources. If any staff member has questions, they should talk with their supervisor.
