  Copy Cataloging Unit

The Copy Cataloging Unit, part of the Cataloging and Metadata Department, consists of five staff and several student assistants and part-time OPS employees. The unit is responsible for the copy cataloging of library materials in a variety of formats and in all languages (except CJK) and the physical processing of most of the outgoing material from the Cataloging and Metadata Department as well as some material from the Acquisitions and Licensing Department. The Unit also participates in special projects with other units at the departmental, divisional, and library level. In particular, in recent years the Unit has worked closely with Acquisitions and Licensing to develop a number of innovative steps that help to ensure the quality of bibliographic records received from WorldCat Cataloging Partners service and increase the throughput time for shelf-ready, domestic firm and approval material.
