Unresolved Files

Records with OCLC numbers

  • Active bibs with suppressed holdings and no holdings
  • Print records with print and preservation microfilm holdings - there may be an OCLC number for the print record on the bib as well as an OCLC number for the microfilm record on the microfilm holding
  • Diacritics in title (e.g., OCLC 17885827, 16099565 - D091123.R281822)
  • Print record with only non-print holding (e.g., Aleph 249078)
  • Records with titles that don't match OCLC title (e.g., Aleph 1993133, 1992824)

Next steps

  • Create file of active bibs with suppressed holdings or no holdings based on missing 952 field; include 035: 9: in report to sort by library (separate columns for NOTIS number and $b); (file includes tape library records - with no holdings)--FCLA created report from client (not unres): HSCL will clean-up manually, Law wants global suppress
  • Create file of records with OCLC numbers (exclude records missing 952 field); update holdings based on OCLC number only, but report titles that don't match (use titles from client instead of file; if unres titles used, diacritics will likely cause false mismatch reports) and capture active OCLC number if different from OCLC number on unres record (move old OCLC number to 019)
  • Create file of records with two OCLC numbers; download records for pres mfm and move mfm holdings; attach holdings for print and mfm; (this won't catch cases where the print doesn't have an OCLC number; will have to handle those manually because it doesn't seem like there's a way to differentiate OCLC numbers on the bib from those on the holding)

Records without OCLC numbers

  • Active bibs without holdings (e.g., Aleph 4140050)
  • Carp records added during conversion from cards to online
  • Records that either were not added to OCLC or were not updated with an OCLC number

  • NTIS microfiche records (TKR "docficprov" need provisional status; 3,826 out of 4,815 missing provisional status)
  • ECCO (Eighteenth Century Collections Online) (contain "(CStRLIN)ESTCT#" e.g., "(CStRLIN)ESTCT75512"; WTK=ecco* totals 136,200; examples in D091127.R281844)
  • CIS (contain 099 $a CIS ... )
  • ESTC (English Short Title Catalogue) film (contain PR1134.E541; WTK=estc film totals 29,705); records exist in OCLC for this collection (filmed by Research Publications, Inc.)

  • Suppressed? see AJQ0179
  • Brief UFDOC records, some with title and NOTIS number (e.g., Aleph 3050788) and some with only NOTIS number (e.g., Aleph 3050787); holding and item attached (internal note: msl mcdoc [YY]; circ note "Catalog Review Needed")
  • CIRC-CREATED (e.g., Aleph 3591644, 3591902)
  • ETDs (e.g., Aleph 3614801, 3614868) (contain 049 ETDG; LD1780 in 050 and 090 fields)
  • Serials Solutions load (e.g., Aleph 4157482 is a physically deleted record; Aleph 4157453 only contains LDR, 00X fields, 035 (WeSeSS), and OWN code)

    Next steps
  • Capture active bibs without holdings via report under "Records with OCLC numbers"?
  • Create file of Baldwin records; add status provisional
  • Create file of NTIS microfiche; add status provisional? (need identifier; also need to check with Docs)
  • Create file of records without OCLC numbers sorted by sublibrary/collection; exclude Baldwin, ECCO, CIS, ETDs (and Serials Solutions?)

Other Info
