Goals for the SCAFAH Unit 2003-2004
Support all ALEPH related activities and participate in all planned training. This will include transitioning to Connexion and CATME.
Work with the Special and Area Studies Collections Department (SASC) to define goals for special collections cataloging. This will include:
Learning how to do collection-level records
Collaborating with SASC to select priority collections/categories to catalog with collection level records.
Continue to improve the rate of rare book cataloging
Collaborate with SASC to translate the national goals established at the ARL Exposing Hidden Collections Conference (Sept. 8-9, 2003) into our work.
Support Stephen Chen as he receives training as a new archivist and moves more fully into that position.
Increase the number of BIBCO records submitted and the NACO and SACO work, and maintain current levels of cataloging for all original and shared cataloging. This goal will include:
Learning how to submit subject headings to LC (SACO) (All)
Organize SACO training sessions (Tatiana)
Learn to perform all aspects of electronic resource cataloging for websites, databases, and other formats.
Fulfill commitment to outsourcing Hebrew and African language materials; explore further ways of cataloging African language materials in vernacular.
Support reclassification initiatives connected to library building and moving.
Carry out responsibilities connected to our assignments as cataloging liaisons for Digital Library Center projects.
