Goals 2006/2007
Continue our specialized collaboration and training relationships with special clients such as Maps, Judaica, Documents, Florida History, IFAS Centers and other satellites.
Improve the throughput time of science materials and social science materials and working with the new Map Librarian, prioritize and significantly reduce the size of the map backlog.
Participate in training efforts in the dept. and the library: Jackie Brown will chair the Training Committee which includes Susan Constantineau and Jorge Gonzalez; dept. training provided will include training of new Metadata Librarian Haiyun Cao and other new staff who are expected to be hired; Aleph ver. 18 training when it becomes available; training for changes in series practices; training for more efficient inputting of Aleph HOL records using full MARC Format for Holdings standard, especially for 85x/86x fields; training to optimize CONNEXION use; and cross-training for cataloging of different formats; Jimmie Lundgren will serve as subject consultant to provide training for CM in subject development for the Research Gateway; Jorge will give additional training to IFAS centers staff in Aleph cataloging.
Unit staff will participate in search committees: Jimmie Lundgren will chair the Map Librarian Search Committee and serve on the Special Collections and Area Studies Department Head Search Committee; Jorge Gonzalez will serve on the Search Committee for an LTA in the Map and Imagery Library.
Develop and implement cataloging workflow for Cooper Science Collection materials in cooperation with Special and Area Studies Collections Dept. and SCAFAH.
