Science & Social Science Cataloging Unit (merged July 2009 into Contributed Cataloging Unit)

Mission Statement

The Science & Social Science Cataloging Unit was responsible for materials needing original or difficult shared cataloging in subject areas of social and hard sciences and cartographic materials. (These areas roughly include LC classifications C through L and Q through Z). In addition to provision of bibliographic access to UF patrons for these materials, the unit contributed bibliographic and authority records to the OCLC (WorldCat) database and records for Florida agriculture materials to the national AGRICOLA database. Some of our members had special cataloging and liaison assignments with the Digital Library Center, Documents, IFAS, Judaica, Florida History, Africana and the Latin American collections and in authorities and serials.
