- Note that the Key resources page is now the primary page for the Africana Collection. Navigating this site is hazardous as files are migrating there (especially the contents page, which is misleading and can't be updated until it's removed--sorry for any inconvenience).
- We've moved! Africana Collection offices are now in Library West. Our new phone numbers are 273-2642 (Dan) and 273-2643 (Peter).
- See the Key resources for African Studies page for quick links to the most commonly used resources and services.
- This site is intended to help people find and use information relating to Africa. Content is directed toward advanced university students and faculty, but it may be helpful to anyone interested in the topics covered.
- See Access Services Department for information on borrowing materials. If you are not currently affiliated with UF, please see the information for Special borrowing privileges, fast Document delivery services (you must pay for these yourself) and/or Interlibrary Loan services.
Mission
Librarians responsible for managing the Africana Collection serve campus programs in African Studies coordinated by the Center for African Studies. We work to ensure access to all formats and levels of library materials that support research and teaching related to Africa. We assist library users in locating and retrieving such material, and train them to do so independently. We extend our service to Africanists in the southeastern United States, as well as nationally and internationally, by considering the needs of a broader constituency in the development and management of the Collection.
