Dominik, Hans, 1870-1910. Kamerun, sechs Kriegs- und Friedensjahre in Deutschen Tropen. Berlin: G. Stilke, 1911. Robert Singerman is responsible for purchasing and managing materials in support of anthropology research in the libraries. Key Resources for Anthropology http://www.uflib.ufl.edu/cm/anthropology/ highlights the many electronic resources available through the UF Libraries. Indexes to academic journals are listed on the Library Databases page, but some databases are available on the web without restriction, such as the Quarterly Index to Periodical Literature, Eastern and Southern Africa (which is compiled by the Library of Congress Office, Nairobi) and the Anthropological Index Online, an "Index to Current Periodicals in the Museum of Mankind Library (incorporating the former Royal Anthropological Institute library)." Marina Salcedo, a UF anthropology alumnae, is currently a reference and instruction librarian. As a student assistant, she created a list of keywords used by the Anthropological Index. It remains a valuable tool for using this sometimes difficult resource, and has been incorporated into their website. A third such index is the Africa bibliography. It includes two databases of journal citations relating to African women (general and travelers, explorers and missionaries), and a more general index that is quite extensive. A few general, useful links for anthropology research:
See also our African ethnic groups and African languages pages for material specific to those areas. Students in Rebecca Klein's Anthropology of Modern Africa course (Spring 2005) may refer to this handout on library resources for term paper research. |
