The design of this bookplate brings together several botanical elements reminiscent of campus plant life--pine boughs, magnolias, palm fronds--and oranges representing the State of Florida, all pictured with a collection of books in front of a rendering of the gothic University Memorial Auditorium.
This same bookplate is used in several branch libraries and research collections (for example, the Music Library, Architecture and Fine Arts Library, and the Latin American Collection) with specific names printed in the open area under the state seal.
