P. K Yonge Library of Florida History
In memory of Junius E. Dovell

This is a copy of a bookplate that is unique in the true sense of the word--it is the only one of its kind ever printed. When Junius E. Dovell, former professor of history at the University of Florida, died in 1986, his widow asked that funds be sent in his memory to the University of Florida Libraries in lieu of flowers. With the funds received, the P. K. Yonge Library of Florida History purchased a book worth $3,500.00 and placed inside it a bookplate specially printed for that one volume.

Rembert W. Patrick, a past chairman of the University of Florida Department of History, was instrumental in getting the Yulee and Stetson collections for the P. K. Yonge Library of Florida History. Upon his death in 1967, memorial funds were donated to purchase library materials to enhance the P. K. Yonge Library. Every volume purchased with these funds bears a small bookplate in his memory.
