Discipline, Format, Genre and Area Circles
Status: Standing
Purpose: To link librarians involved in coordination of primary and secondary selection and management responsibilities of research resources in broad subject disciplines, areas, genres, and formats into a communications network, planning and implementation group, which will define needs, create action plans, implement strategies, and address internal problems so as to ensure the best possible library collection development and management support of the University's academic programs.
Membership: Bibliographers and selectors responsible for the collection management program in defined disciplines, genres, formats and areas. Circles may be organized for Africa, Arts/Architecture, Documents, Humanities, Latin America, Cartographic Materials, Sciences, and Social Sciences.
Appointments and Term: Appointments will be made by the bibliographers. All appointments will be confirmed by the primary supervisor.
Meetings: On the call of the bibliographer
Reports: One annual report will be made by the responsible bibliographer to the Collection Management Steering Group during the month of May or June. Specific reports may be submitted at any time for routing to the Collection Management Steering Group.
Recorder: Committee Staff
Initiation of Studies and Referrals: The Circles may initiate studies upon need; may accept referrals from the Collection Management Steering Group and the Associate Director for Collection Management; may refer policy and implementation questions to other Circles, the Collection Management Steering Group, and the Associate Director for Collection Management.
