Interlibrary Loan/Collection Management Reports

The Interlibrary Loan Office provides reports of borrowing activity for the use of collection managers to help determine faculty and graduate student needs. Two currently produced reports cover all requests for journal articles or whole issues/volumes of serials. The reports are produced on a quarterly basis, in October, January, April, and July. They are distributed to the coordinating collection managers of the general collections : Arts/Architecture, Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, and the African and LAC/Judaica area collection managers. The reports will be made available to anyone through these collection managers. Retrospective reports have been produced which covered the entire ILL database since its inception in September 1988. The reports contain the following information:

CONTU TABLES

This is the same table which is used by Interlibrary Loan to assure compliance with existing U.S. copyright law. Coverage includes all requests submitted in the present calendar year for journal articles and issues published in the last five years. The table is organized alphabetically by title of the journal and includes the following information :

  1. Request date - the date the request came into ILL.

  2. Journal title - number of entries of the same title equals the number of requests submitted for that title.

  3. Year of publication - the year of the issue requested.

  4. ILL number - ILL database transaction number. Collection managers may request more information from ILL regarding specifics of particular title requests. There are legal restrictions on providing information about a specific individual's request but general information (patron status, department, etc.) is available.

ANTI-CONTU TABLE

This is the converse of the CONTU table ; it covers all requests submitted in the present calendar year for journal articles and issues published prior to the last five years. This information is not needed for copyright compliance purposes, but is useful for determining back issues missing from the collection or titles for which we have no holdings at all. Its format is exactly the same as the CONTU table.
