HOLIDAY PARTY EVENTS / ACTIVITIES:
Potluck: Meats, desserts, sweet & unsweet iced tea, lemonade, water and hot apple cider will be provided. We'll continue the tradition of sharing food, so please sign up with the food or beverage you plan to bring. Impress your co-workers with a favorite dish from your own holiday tradition. Retro dishes welcome! People who contribute to the potluck will be entered into a drawing for a prize. Sign up
White Elephant Gift Exchange:Wrap up something you don’t want, but think someone else might enjoy. Bring it to the party to exchange in this holiday game. The game will begin at 1:30 pm.
Childhood Holiday Photos: Send in a childhood holiday photo (or photos) of yourself (they can be of just you or a group photo). They will be made into a PowerPoint. Send actual photos or high resolution scans to Val Davis, 209A Marston Science Library, vdavis@ufl.edu, by November 21. Please write your name on the back of the photo and label digital files with your name. She will scan photographs and return to you.
"Retro Holidays" Centerpiece Contest: Enter a centerpiece from the 1920s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s – as an individual, group or department. Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, voted on by those in attendance at the party. Please sign up online if you plan to enter. Sign up
Decorate a Wall Hanging: Come and paint, draw or color paper a retro holiday tradition to decorate the room at the party. Thursday, Dec. 1 and Friday, Dec. 2. between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM at the MSL staff lounge (first floor). Paper, paint, brushes and markers provided.
Donation Drive: We will collect two types of donations this year:
Food and toiletries for Catholic Charities -- Food: dry & evaporated milk, medium size boxes cereal, beans -- all kinds, including dry, pasta, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter and crackers. Toiletries: deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, toilet paper and any other normal personal necessities.
Toys and clothes for five young children whose home recently burned down. See the list of sizes and requested items here and sign up for any you wish to purchase and donate.
Donation boxes will be located in all campus libraries. You can also bring your UNWRAPPED donations to the holiday party. Mark with the child's name.
Volunteers: Sign up to decorate on Dec. 6, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or food prep, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and clean up, 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Dec. 8. Sign up
