Employee Recognition Committee Meeting

Present: Betsy Simpson, Brian Keith, Laurie Brennan, Dina Benson, Brett Diaz, Barbara Hood. Peter McKay

There were three matters discussed.

  1. Service Pin Distribution.

    Service pins are distributed throughout the year as people reach 5-year, 10-year, etc. milestones. The service is University service not just Library service. Brian suggested we could selectively recognize individuals who have completed long years of service (e.g. 20-years) at the Annual Convocation. A poster could be displayed listing the names of all recipients during the past year.

  2. Awards

    The Committee decided to create a pilot program consisting of 5 Awards (subject to Library Council approval):

    • Customer Service
    • Behind-the-Scenes
    • Innovation
    • Outreach
    • Instruction and Training

    Anyone can nominate someone (including self-nominations) by submitting a form that we will design. The Employee Recognition Committee (ERC) will vote on the awards which will be given at the Annual Convocation. ERC will develop criteria for evaluating the nominations.

Note: We decided to limit the initial awards to five in order to keep the presentations brief and to see how well it works.
