Librarian Teacher of the Year Award will be on the agenda at next Library Faculty Senate Meeting; Betsy will discuss
Library Employee Excellence Awards
- Deadline for submission is July 1
- Received 5 nominations so far in categories Behind the Scenes and Innovation
- We need to remind employees to submit nominations
- We’ll ask Judy to send a Library wide email reminder
- Committee members will remind their area colleagues
- Possibly make it an agenda item at Library Council and/or at Cross Divisional meeting in July
- Email to Water Cooler List
- List on department blogs
- Mention at Faculty Assembly
Convocation
- Committee is meeting
- Jay & John Nemmers are co-chairs
- It will be very similar format to last years event
ARL Survey
- Brian compiled the results and reported on university spending
- The response numbers can be used for fundraising efforts/targeting
- Betsy will share results with Cathy M. & Judy
- UF is low on employee spending compared to other ARLs who responded, but what if our funding was doubled, what would be accomplished?
- Committee possibilities include:
- More money for retirements to offset out of pocket expenses of current employees
- New employee reception
- Annual luncheon for years of service
- Spot bonuses
- Student employee recognition event (which many departments currently host as out of pocket)
- Tenure reception
- Event funding increase
- Rough estimate was made of how much more funding is needed to compete with other ARLs
- Approximately $3400 to match median on survey
- Currently the 311 employees (listed in statistics) include Health & Law branches. Both of which are included in the holiday party, picnic, convocation and more.
Committee Replacements
- Committee member turnover is in August
- Members should be recruited to be a representation of the entire library, including divisions and faculty to staff ratio
- Betsy will contact area heads for nominations
