Computers Available in Library West and Marston Science Library

All of the PCs in these locations are using the Windows 10 operating system and provide an extensive list of software which can be viewed here: http://guides.uflib.ufl.edu/InfoCommons/generalcomputers

Library West: there are 200 computers throughout the building, 18 of those computers with dual monitors, located on the east side of the 3rd floor InfoCommons, and six iMacs are located on the southeast corner of the 2nd floor. More information available: Computers & Software in Library West page.

Marston Science Library: there are 120 computers located throughout the building. On the 1st floor, 81 PCs are available. On the 2nd floor, 25 PCs with dual monitors and 6 iMacs are available. On the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floor, 6 PCs, 4 PCs, and 4 PCs are available, respectively.

Computers Available in all other Libraries (except for Library West & Marston Science Library)

Internet / Database Access

Access to the Internet and online library services, including the library catalog and databases, is available in all the libraries and branches.

Database and eResources Access Off Campus

UF Students, Faculty, and Staff to view Databases and eResources must first login to access any database or electronic resource held by the Libraries. Instructions available: http://cms.uflib.ufl.edu/offcampus

e-Learning and Streaming Video

e-Learning and the university's video classes can be viewed on workstations throughout the libraries. Users must provide their own headphones. To aid in viewing or listening to other media, the workstations provide the following viewing and listening utilities and plug-ins.

Printing

Printers are available in all libraries and branches.

Printing system available in: Architecture & Fine Arts Library, Education Library, Library West, and Marston Science

  • Black/White 2-sided: $.08 per side = $.16 per page
  • Black/White 1-sided: $.08 per page
  • Color laser printing (Library West & Marston Science Library only): $.75 per page.
  • Large format plotter (Marston Science Library only): $3 per linear foot
  • Large format plotter-High Quality (Marston Science Library only): $10 per linear foot

3-D Printers and Scanners Available

Multi-language Support

Library workstations provide multi-language support through the Microsoft Keyboard IME extensions.

Accessibility Software

All library workstations provide a suite of software designed to enhance accessibility. Other adaptive/assistive equipment is available at limited locations.

Cables

Available in Library West: cables (RCA/Composite, VGA, HDMI) that are available for 2-hour checkout for "in library" use only. Checkout at 2nd floor circulation desk.

Available in Marston: HDMI cables that are available for 2-hour checkout for in-library use only. Checkout at 2nd floor circulation desk. Also available are 6 USB Charging Cables with Lighting / 30 Pin / Micro USB / Mini USB Ports.

Calculators

Available in Marston Science Library. 4 hour checkout. Can leave the library.

Epson Moverio

Available in Marston Science Library. 4 hour checkout. MADE@UF room only.

Google Glass

Available in Marston Science Library. 4 hour checkout. MADE@UF room only.

iPad Loans

iPads are available at all libraries except for Law.

Each library has a limited number of iPads available for checkout on a first-come, first-served basis. Use of iPads is restricted to current UF students (not available to faculty and staff).

Mac adapters

Mac adapters available in Library West: 30-Pin Digital HDMI, Mini DisplayPort to VGA, and 30-pin to VGA. 2 hour checkout. In library use only.

Mac adapters available in Marston Science Library: Mini DVI to VGA and Mini Display Port to VGA. 2 hour checkout. In library use only.

Oculus Rift

Available in Marston Science Library. 4 hour checkout. MADE@UF room only.

Projector Loans

Library West has 1 Dell Pico Projectors available for 2-hour checkout for "in library" use only. Checkout at 2nd floor circulation desk.

AFA Library has 3 Dell Pico Projectors available for 3-day checkout. Checkout at the AFA Library Service Desk.

Video Camera Loans

AFA Library has 4 flip-video cameras available for 3-day checkout. Checkout at the AFA Library Service Desk.

AFA Library has 1 camera tripod available for 3 day checkout. Checkout at the AFA Library Service Desk.

Microforms

Microfilm, microfiche, and microprint readers/printers are available wherever microform materials are located.

Library West

  • 4 ScanPro 3000 digital microform readers/printers/editors
  • 1 analog microfiche reader
  • 1 analog microfilm reader (can only view film on this machine, no printing available)

Smathers Library (East)

Marston Science Library

  • 1 Digital Microform reader/printer/editor on the 2nd floor. This digital microform reader is the only one in the Libraries that can read special, microprint cards.

Scanning

A small number of scanners are available in Smathers Library, Marston Science Library, the Architecture and Fine Arts Library, and the Education Library. Imaging software varies, depending on the location.

Library West

  • 1st Floor
    • 1 flatbed scanner
    • Located outside the double elevators, there is a scanner on a workstation against the wall near the printer.
  • 2nd Floor
    • 1 flatbed scanner with bulk document feeder that allows users to scan multiple pages.
    • Located in the 2nd floor alcove, next to the office supplies vending machine.
  • 3rd Floor
    • Approximately 15 flatbed scanners
    • Located in the Dual Monitor Computers Area (east side of 3rd floor)
  • 6th Floor (Restricted to Graduate Students)
    • 1 large format scanner
    • Located in northwest corner of the 6th floor in the Multimedia Production, Printing, and Scanning Station.

Video Recording Studio (One Button Studio)

Available to Library West for UF students only via online reservation. One Button Studio has auto-record camera equipment, lighting, audio, and a green screen option bundled in a single setup that allows students to quickly and easily record videos. Required: students must bring a FAT-32 formatted USB drive (min. 8GB).
