Readying Titles for InterLibrary Loan (ILL) Procedures
- Select titles from "Waiting To ILL" shelves.
- Verify which pages/volumes are needed.
- Re-search OCLC and printout record with holding libraries attached.
- Fill out loan request form and attach OCLC/holdings.
- Place a duplicate copy in the volume (write the OCLC # on the dupe). Date the form.
- Charge volume(s) to "ILL in process" patron id and shelve on "ILL in process" shelves, in date order.
Deliver Request to ILL Department
- Attach cover note explaining what is needed and why.
- Deliver completed forms to ILL.
Receiving Requested Material from ILL
- Upon receipt of material from ILL verify that all requested materials for the title were received.
- If so, prepare to place title in filming queue.
- If replacement pages were needed, decide whether to photocopy the pages or film the borrowed book. Consult Unit Head.
- If pages are to be filmed, photocopy appropriate pages and place in a folder to prevent bending.
- If not, place volumes on Unit Head ILL Shelf for immediate decision about reproduction status.
Periodic Review of Materials on Request
- Review requests that are more than 60 days old.
- Check on status in ILL.
- Refer volumes to Unit Head by placing on Unit Head ILL Shelf with notation of initial request date.
