In
1765 the King's Botanist John
Bartram traveled through the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida.
Accompanied by his son William, John established a route
traversed by the most notable European and American naturalists
in the 18th and early 19th centuries. From 1773-77, William
revisited Florida, retracing the earlier journey and venturing
off to explore new territory.
