Advanced ARC IMS Searching

  1. Click on a layer target to activate a layer. The photo tiles layer is active above.
2. Click on Advanced ArcIMS Search.

The advanced query form allows you to create complex searches. The fields you can search depend on the layer data base. With the photo tiles data base active, we can search on:
City, County Name, FlightFIPS, Quadrangle Name, Quadrangle Number, Township/Range, Year, and Zip Code. Select your field from the drop down menu. We can search by one or more of these fields by using the Boolean operators of AND, OR, NOT, and ( ) for nesting.

  The sequence is:
1) Create your search query
2) Click on the Add to Query String button
3) Execute
Example below: Search for Eustis in the City field
1) Select City in the Field box from the drop down menu.
2) Type the word Eustis in as the Value. Using the Operator= tells the computer that you want to search City=Eustis.
3) Click on the Add to Query String. Query UPPER(CITY) = "EUSTIS" appears.
4) Click on the Execute button.

Further manipulation:
1."Zoom to these records." This will show each aerial photograph in the city of Eustis as a yellow dot.
2. Click on a Rec number, e.g., 2 and that dot will turn to red.

If you want to see the individual aerial tile associated with that dot, click on the camera icon.
