How to Make a Layer Active & Identify Features in that Layer

Layers are created by aggregating all of the informational attributes for one feature type, e.g., lakes, aerial tiles, highways into a database. Each active layer has one database associated with it, and when you activate that layer, you can search and retrieve data from its database.
The visual representation of each feature layer is given by the legend. You can click between Layers and the Legend.
Click on the target to make the Photo tiles the active layer. The Legend tells us that each photo tile will be represented by a green dot.

Activating this layer also activates the database of all photo tile features.

Click the Zoom button on the tool bar, then click over the map until you can see the individual dots.

Click on the Identify button. Center the crosshair cursor over a dot and click.
Note:
You must click over the exact center of the dot.

Information on the tile identified will appear at the bottom of your screen.

The information values associated with that tile will appear as a record.

FIPS Code=12103 (Pinellas County) Quadrangle Number=3222

Click on the camera icon to go to the aerial photograph represented by the dot.
