Collection Description
In 2002, the University of Florida Sea Grant College Program received funding from the NOAA Coastal Services Center to identify, preserve, and digitially share coastal data related to Florida. Much of the spatial data identified for preservation was created by the Urban Boating and Bay Water Management Program of the Florida Sea Grant office. These data include historical and modern aerial photography; scanned historic hydrographic (H-maps) and topographic maps (T-maps) and bathymetry interpreted from them; and depths, sea grass extent, and bottom characteristics in 16 popular recreational vessel anchorages. Additional items include U.S. Army Corps of Engineers historic survey reports and associated maps, and U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey descriptive reports.
