Develop procedures to assimilate the various reels of Florida Miscellaneous newspapers into the Reprographics Unit databases and routines
- Primary Contact:
- Nelda Schwartz (neldas@mail.uflib.ufl.edu)
Will Canova (wcanova@mail.uflib.ufl.edu)
- Objectives:
-
- Inventory the Florida Miscellaneous newspaper reels housed in the Main Microform Center, as well as those held in Special Collections
- Determine most appropriate method to regenerate acetate film while attempting to make the information stored on the reels more easily accessible
- Determine most appropriate method to input data into Filmlog, based upon decision about reformatting contents of reels
- Progress:
-
- July 2002 Continue to receive sales requests for these reels, which are in poor condition as well as being truly miscellaneous reels with many, many titles on each reel (and each title on many reels) which makes them difficult to use.
- August 2002 Contacted duplication vendor to establish whether they would handle film in this condition, with many, many splices or tapings or have alternative suggestions. Awaiting response

Convert 16mm microfilm from 1988 test batch to 35mm; replace illegible patron-use fiche copies
- Primary Contact:
- Nelda Schwartz (neldas@mail.uflib.ufl.edu)
- Gus Clifton (gusclif@mail.uflib.ufl.edu)
- Objectives:
-
- Collect and have the 16mm reels regenerated onto 35mm microfilm
- Replace the discolored microfiche with appropriate jacketed fiche
- Update NOTIS to reflect the 35mm film change from 16mm for microfilm master copy levels
- Progress:
-
- July 2002 Developed plan to substitute the jacketed microfiche being held as "print master" generation for the discolored fiche currently housed in the various branches, since the new 35mm will provide both generations of film for archival storage. Positive microfilm will not be produced at this time, as the fiche will remain the user copy
