10. Number and size of Library Digital Collections

  1. Number of collections:  57 active collections
    We restructed the hierarchies and now have more subcollections for greater usability and increased likelihood of serendipitous searches. (in 2006-2007: 41)
  2. Size (in gigabytes): 65TB
    Full Digital Archive: 66,560GB (65TB)
    Actual online ready-use files: 6,144GB (6TB)
    Digital archive includes the archival masters (TIFF, MPEG, etc) and all derivatives (Zoomable JPEG2000, text files, standard JPEGs, JPEG thumbnails, audio and video files, PDF, etc.). The online ready-use files do not include the archival masters.

  3. Items (digital objects or unique files in the collections): 147,142 items with 3,078,499 unique pages.
    Arrearage has grown from the 120,000+ items last reported.

11. Use of Library Digital Collections

  1. Number of times items accessed: 1,433,183 hits
    Even though for much of this time search engines were denied per robot misbehavior. This excludes hits on resources at partner (duplicated resource) collections, e.g., State of Florida collaborative (http://palmm.fcla.edu/), International Children's Digital Book Library (childrenslibrary.org), Internet Archive (archive.org), etc.
    2008, July-December: 1,867,543 hits
    2007-2008: 1,433,183 hits
    2006-2007: 1,236,164 hits
  2. Number of queries conducted: 63,127 queries
    Many queries are from outside the digital collections, from the catalog or a commercial search like Google in those cases users are getting directly to the desired resources.
    Excluding hits on resources at partner (duplicated resource) collections, e.g., State of Florida collaborative (http://palmm.fcla.edu/), International Children's Digital Book Library (childrenslibrary.org), Internet Archive (archive.org), etc.

    $598,786.26 (includes fringe for salaries)

    (Baldwin and dLOC Grants would add another 80,787, but this is not included in the above)

    $366,062
    Breakdown: Systems: 64,024 (which includes the DLC San, which was 49,971) and 2,039, for a subtotal of $66,063 plus the cost of microfilm conversion (299,999.65); total $366,062
