Learning Objects & Education Modules

In addition to the primary text collections, the DLC also hosts education modules and other projects that further connect technologies to the collections. The modules can take many forms, including:

• The Library Game (fun version, more traditional website here)
• UF Libraries in Second Life
• Lesson plans and readings, like Using Herbarium Specimens, Collection Connection: Natural History Museums and Libraries, lessons (one and two) on Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe; general project descriptions like the essay projects on St. Nicholas; and reformatted versions of existing materials into a more sustainable format, like the Center for African Study's Irohin.
• Some could also be:
  • Maps
  • Helping connect other existing resources with the collections
  • Annotated bibliographies for the collections; like finding aids to the collections, but finding aids that include digitized materials and explain how those materials could be used in teaching and research
• Internships in specific areas while learning the digitization process
